LOVE and memories

So I don't know if any of ya'll were "Too" girls like I was... (I was heartbroken the day they changed their name to Justice!) Anyways, my favorite part of shopping there was that I could go to a section, pick out some things that I liked, and I would always be matching. The "blue" section featured blue hawaiian print shorts and a lighter version of the blue with a matching pattern top, etc. etc. Now, as long as you didn't get crazy and hop over to the bright pink section, you were pretty much guaranteed to be good to go upon leaving.

Flash forward to recent years when I walk in somewhere like J.Crew. I see this adorable outfits on manequins around the store but how on earth am I supposed to dress myself like that without taking it off of them? (I may or may not have really done this there before... Judge me). I come out with one random t-shirt and a pair of shorts that don't even go together! I was so much more satisfied when I could simply leave with an entire outfit, stress-free and happy.

Present day. Literally, like an hour ago... Leaving Talbots with that same warm fuzzy feeling I used to have back in the days of Limited Too. The purple section, the blue section, everything adorable and put together, just like I'd like to seem!

I had never really considered Talbots for myself, but entering big girl world, I decided to give it a chance and I'm so glad that I did! Everything there is SO cute and well made! And if, for some reason, you can't navigate the matching sections, the saleswomen are all super helpful and dressed to a t as well! Definitely stop by and check it out if you haven't, ya'll! You won't regret it :)

Allow me to (re)introduce myself!

Okay, so I have been the most wishy washy girl but I've finally decided to try and keep up with this blog. I've started a tumblr account too, like a lot of ya'll have, and I'm gonna see which one I prefer!

Next week begins my first "big-girl" experience, working and living completely alone! I have an internship in a college town about an hour and a half away from home, and my apartment may or may not be in the bottom of a family friend's home... but I have my very own entrance and kitchen and I'm gonna be a grown-up, dangit!

Until then, I have lots of laziness, crafting, day trips and a great big family reunion to look forward to and I look forward to sharing them with ya'll as well!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Soul Animal...

Okay forgive me if this post is really random and possibly quite hippy! My friend introduced me a while back to the concept of a soul animal. A soul animal is not necessarily an animal that is your favorite or that you even identify with on a normal level. This animal is one that you feel a weird connection with for some reason and you just can't explain it, but they give you peace and understanding. I had been trying to force meaning out of it for some time now, but I just kept coming up empty handed or with animals that I liked, but didn't really identify with.

Recently, my family has been having some hard times and it's been hard to be at school and be away from them. I was on the phone with my mom the other night and she said something that for some reason made me decide to look up the meaning of one animal that has now become my obsession and my new soul animal: the peacock!

Not only is this a gorgeous bird, it has an amazing meaning behind it that is really perfect for how I feel right now. I am usually not a big bird person in the slightest (I'm actually terrified!) but I was incredibly comforted once I read this. A peacock symbolizes benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and luck. In terms of faith, it reprsents resurrection, renewal and immortality within the spiritual teachings of Christianity. is representative of glory, immortality, royalty, and incorruptibility. It is a possessor of some of the most admired human characteristics, and is a symbol of integrity and the beauty that can be achieved when we endeavor to better ourselves and better our lives. In history, myth, legend & lore, the peacock is considered an emblem of protection, nobility, watchfulness, guiddance, and holiness.(Wikipedia)

See why I was so amazed? I never woulda thought :)

Do ya'll have any animals that really mean a lot to you? I'd love to hear!

Lucky Number 3....

Here [there?!?] lies my beloved third Blackberry. At the age of about 4 weeks, I barely knew ye. You liked to play BrickBreaker, and go for walks, never complaining or shutting off.

Sadly, this week I mourn the loss of my 3rd Blackberry Curve. I honestly think these phones have something in them that magnetically makes them repel from me! I have never been the type of person to go through phones constantly, my first one lasted me 3 years and my second one I had up until the beginning of last semester and it still works like a charm! They all died of old age. But no, not this one! If I so much as look at wrong when I turn my alarm off in the morning it will spontaneously blow up. Not really, but I wouldn't be surprised. The thing is, I am way too addicted to it to go back to another phone! I know three is an unlucky number so I'm holding out for number 4. Thank goodness for insurance!

PS. I did leave this one on a train though :( New Year's Resolution- be less spastic!

HAPPY 2010 YA'LL!! I was initially not too excited about the start of the new year, but my plans fell together perfectly! I rang in the new year at a cabin with a ton of my friends from high school. It was a really random group of people, but it made it all the more hilarious! Then, after a big nap and some fast food, I trekked over to the big, beautiful hotel in our town for my best friend's mom's wedding. She had booked us a room for the night and we had planned on going downtown afterwards, but we were all so tired after the reception that we fell fast asleep! I swear, sometimes we both agree that we're just old people trapped in the bodies of 21 year olds! HA! The ceremony and reception were beautiful, her mom was so happy :). Tomorrow, I leave for my Richmond and Philadelphia adventure! I'm headed up to Richmond for anight to stay over with one of my best friends from school, then we are headed up to visit our other friend in Philadelphia! I haven't been there since about eigth grade so I'm excited to see what it has in store! Anyone from that area who has any suggestions?? Hope ya'll had a safe and happy New Years, I can't WAIT for 2010!
